Depuis que SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE a sorti son premier album éponyme en 2014, ils ont développé la réputation d’être le groupe préféré de votre groupe préféré. Leur musique est celle de l’immersion, de la confrontation, le genre qui fait qu’un auditeur s’arrête et se demande : « Comment font-ils même ça ? Et au fil des années, ce sentiment de perplexité a permis à SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE de monter tranquillement mais régulièrement, avec leur dernier album, Hypnic Jerks de 2018, les laissant sur le précipice d’une reconnaissance plus large.
Le groupe vient de sortir son quatrième album et son premier album à Saddle Creek, ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH. L’album marque de nouveaux chapitres pour le groupe sur plusieurs fronts, étant le premier à présenter leur nouvelle formation de trois musiciens, ainsi que le premier à être entièrement auto-enregistré et produit. Le guitariste/chanteur Zack Schwartz et le bassiste/chanteur Rivka Ravede sont désormais rejoints par le nouveau membre Corey Wichlin, un multi-instrumentiste qui a déménagé de Chicago vers le territoire d’origine du groupe à Philadelphie l’année dernière.

Ever since SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE released their self-titled debut in 2014, they’ve developed a reputation for being your favorite band’s favorite band. Theirs is the music of immersion, of confrontation, the kind that makes a listener stop and wonder, “How are they even doing that?” And as the years wear on, that sense of bafflement has made room for SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE to quietly but steadily ascend, with their most recent album, 2018’s Hypnic Jerks, leaving them poised on the precipice of wider recognition.
On April 9th, SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE will release their fourth album and Saddle Creek debut, ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH. The album signals new chapters for the band on multiple fronts, being the first to feature their new three-piece lineup, as well as the first to be entirely self-recorded and produced. Guitarist/vocalist Zack Schwartz and bassist/vocalist Rivka Ravede are now joined by new member Corey Wichlin, a multi-instrumentalist who relocated from Chicago to the band’s home territory of Philadelphia last year.
