Sigrid est la popstar que vous attendiez. Elle vient peut-être d’une petite ville en Norvège mais a déjà l’attitude, la personnalité et la voix plus travaillée que n’importe quelle fille de 20 ans. Avec sa voix rauque et douce à a fois, mêlée à son accent norvégien et son sourire qui finit toujours en éclats de rire, elle est la personnification du « cool », mais semble ne pas encore le savoir. Sigrid a grandi à Ålesund, ville qui siège à l’entrée d’un fjord protégé par l’UNESCO perdu entre mer et montagnes, c’est comme si elle avait été destinée à visiter l’île voisine de Giske et à faire de la musique dans cet endroit idyllique.
La chanteuse a vite été approchée par le label norvégien Petroleum, avec qui elle a sorti 3 singles et a été immédiatement relayée sur la radio nationale, mais elle avait besoin de temps pour savoir ce qu’elle voulait vraiment faire. Après deux ans de travail, Sigrid a signé chez Island Records et partage son temps entre Bergen et Londres. Le résultat est un pop complètement addictive, rythmées de mélodies enjouées et de refrains forts, avec la dose parfaite de « hey! ».

Sigrid is the popstar you’ ve been searching for. She might be from a small town in Norway, but she has a mind, attitude and voice bigger than any other 20-year-old. With a silky-gravel to her Norwegian-accent and a smile which often opens into fits of laughter; she personifies ‘ cool,’ but doesn’ t know it yet, and is worth getting as excited about as when Lorde first appeared with Royals. Born and raised in Ålesund, which sits at the entrance of a UNESCO-protected fjord surrounded by sea and mountains, it was as if Sigrid was always fated to drive the ten minutes across to the neighbouring island of Giske and make musical magic in the idyllic Ocean Sound Recordings. Sigrid was swiftly snapped up by Norwegian indie label Petroleum, she released a third single with them and it was immediately playlisted on national radio, but she needed time to figure out what she wanted to do. Fast forward to now and following two years of working on her craft, Sigrid has signed to Island Records and is currently splitting her time between Bergen and London. The result is a completely addictive pop banger, full of playful melodies, a huge chorus and the perfect dose of “hey!”The rest of Sigrid’ s yet unnamed debut EP, due 7th April, is a window into what’s to come from the precocious popstar.
