Ida Mae
Originaire de Norfolk, au Royaume-Uni, Ida Mae est un duo de folk acoustique composé du couple Chris Turpin et Stephanie Jean. Livrant des chansons romantiques et atmosphériques avec une guitare résonnante et une voix pleine d’émotions, le couple puise ses influences dans le son Americana et deep Blues-Rock sudiste. Ils viennent tout juste de sortir un premier album en 2019, intitulé Chasing Lights. Le duo a décidé de travailler ensemble après que Turpin ait sorti trois albums avec son ancienne formation, Kill It Kid, basé à Bath, dans le Somerset. Avec sa femme Jean, il s’est ouvert a quelque chose de nouveau et la paire d’artiste a passé du temps à écrire, à enregistrer et à peaufiner son propre style musical, sachant que Kill It Kid était davantage influencé par le rock alternatif et le grunge. Après avoir amassé suffisamment d’enregistrements qui leurs correspondait, les deux compositeurs ont sorti leur premier single « Reaching » au début de 2019. La chanson a permis au duo de se plonger plus profondément dans le son des pionniers du blues/country tels que Son House et Robert Johnson. La chanson figure sur leur premier album, Chasing Lights, arrivé en juin de cette année.

Hailing from Norfolk, U.K., Ida Mae are an acoustic alt-folk duo made up of husband-and-wife Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean. Delivering romantic and atmospheric songs with resonant guitar and passionate vocals, the pair owe their influences to the sound of Americana and deep South blues-rock. Their work can be heard on their 2019 debut LP Chasing Lights. The duo decided to work together after Turpin had put out three albums with his former act, Kill It Kid, in Bath, Somerset. He decided to try something new with Jean and the pair spent time writing and recording their own material — it was quite a sonic departure from Kill It Kid (who were more influenced by alternative rock and grunge). After having amassed enough material, the pair put out their debut single, « Reaching, » in early 2019. The track found the duo delving more deeply into the sound of country blues pioneers such as Son House and Robert Johnson. The song was featured on their first LP, Chasing Lights, which arrived in June of that year.
